REVIEW: Angel Eyes Eyeshadow Shields

I was SO excited when I first saw these pop up on my Instagram feed. Straight away I headed to the Angel Eyes website and bought myself some! If you want to see my first impressions in a video, head over and have a watch of this video

I thought (and do still think) that the whole concept of these are genius! No more downfall from eyeshadows and a very sharp, precise line. However, I was actually rather disappointed with these.

The shields are supposed to have a sticky side that stick to your skin (obviously) however I found that they really weren't sticky enough to stay on my skin. They peeled off straight away, therefor very frustrating to use. I find myself having to hold the shield down with one hand and apply my eyeshadow with the other. They do create a very sharp line but I feel like this could be done just holding anything straight up against my eye like a piece of paper, or a card. I know that some people use tape to create the sharp eyeshadow look but I never personally liked the thought of that because I prefer to do my base make-up first before my eyes and the tape would surely pull that off?

Overall, I probably wouldn't buy these again but considering I have so many of them I will continue to use them because they do create a nice sharp edge, it's just rather annoying that they aren't sticky enough to let go of without them falling off my face.

Have you tried these? If so, what are your thoughts?

Lots of love x

  1. I saw your video where you used these and although I loves the concept of them I just wasn't sure about them. I think I might just try using some card instead and see how that turns out! Great review though! x

  2. Oh, Ive not seen or heard of these before. A shame they didn't stay on you well though. I like doing my face first but also found tape peeled it off :( cant win!! I watched a youtube video of someone cutting the same shape out of pantyliner's and using them as shadow shields :D LOL did work on her.

  3. I felt your frustration when I watched your video. I just do my eye makeup, and then use a wipe or makeup remover on a cotton pad to make the straight line.. :P It's probably cheating, but it works for me..
