Top Tips On Blogging And YouTube!

I would probably say that the most common question I get asked is 'Do you have any tips on starting a YouTube channel or a Blog?' Today is the day that I answer that question.

Yes, of course I have some tips on starting up your own YouTube Channel or your own Blog, but at the same time I think that both are very personal and you should teach yourself a lot of things along your journey and not just rely on help from others! I had no help at all, had to start completely from scratch with just Google there to answer any technical editing questions haha! But here is what I will say...

Passion - There is absolutely no point in putting a lot of your hard work and effort into something if you're not completely passionate about it. My one passion in life is make-up and beauty and it's a topic I could honestly sit and talk about for hours, which is what you need to be able to do if you're going to start up your own blog or YouTube channel. Obviously, make-up may not be your passion. You might want to start up a food, fashion or lifestyle blog...or something completely different. Whatever you choose, you need to be passionate about it, otherwise you're just going to get bored and trust me, it's much harder than you think. People don't realise just how much time it takes to get a YouTube video up on your channel or take some really good blog photos, it's really not that easy.

Consistency - Of course, writing a blog or having a YouTube channel is not just about numbers. Who cares if you have zero subscribers or thousands of them? You should create content because you enjoy doing it and that's that. But that said, obviously it is nice to see your views going up and getting comments on the hard work and effort you've put into a video or blogpost. If you set yourself a schedule and let people know when to check back for new content, they're much more likely to subscribe. If they know they're regularly going to get new content to read or watch, they're more likely to hit that subscribe button, or just know when to check back. Consistency is something people generally like so I would definitely say having a schedule will help your numbers go up. It also makes life a lot easier and simpler for you making the content.

Unique - This is a difficult one, I know, however coming up with new ideas and thinking outside of the box is another thing that's going to catch the attention of viewers/ readers. If you just write blogposts that have already been written and film videos that have already been filmed, you're not really going to get anywhere. Coming up with new ideas is super difficult, I try all of the time, but it's definitely something you should be trying to do. There's no point in being the same as everyone else, try and put your own twist on things and be a little unique.

Motivation - I definitely have days where I find it really difficult to get motivated and nothing seems to get my brain going and other days, my brain will be spilling with ideas. That's just how it is. However, if you find yourself having zero motivation all of the time, maybe you need to reconsider and think if blogging really is for you. Whenever I struggle to get motivated I tend to read other blog posts and watch other YouTube videos and see if it triggers anything. But never ever force it. If you're not feeling creative, just leave it for a day and come back because otherwise you'll only end up hating the content that you made.

Personal Goals - Lastly, don't put too much pressure on yourself and most importantly, don't compare yourself to others! Everyone in life is on a journey, and we're all at complete different stages of that journey. Don't compare yourself to others, in any circumstances, not just in the world of blogging. You should set your own personal goals and as long as you try your hardest and be yourself, then you should be super, super proud.

Lots of love x
