Learning About Cruelty Free Make-Up | The Ultimate Guide

Recently I've been hearing a lot of talk about 'Cruelty Free' make-up and I feel like it's about time I educate myself about it and try to do my bit in some way. Having been a Pescetarian for the last 5 years or so, I do often feel rather guilty when applying MAC make-up or other popular make-up brands that aren't cruelty free. I am completely aware that this is a very controversial subject so please don't leave any negative or rude comments as I will just delete them. Everyone is entitle to their own opinion and can eat what they want and use what make-up they want, but I'm writing this post just to note down my opinions, what I've learned about cruelty free make-up and share with you a few of my favourite cruelty free brands.

"Hundreds of thousands of animals are poisoned, blinded, and killed every year in archaic product tests for cosmetics, personal-care products and household cleaning products. Although more than 1,700 companies have banned all animal tests, some corporations still force substances into animals stomachs and drip chemicals into rabbits eyes. These tests are not required by law, and they often produce inaccurate or misleading results—even if a product has blinded an animal, it can still be marketed to you."

As a lot of you will know, I blog and make YouTube videos as a hobby. I love what I do and Im hoping that my channel and blog are just going to keep growing and getting bigger and bigger. A huge part of what I do is test out make-up and share my opining with you guys. It would be very difficult for me to go completely 'cruelty free' and I feel like my content might not be as interesting or have such a variety of videos. I am so interested in the whole topic and obviously I hate it and don't agree with animal testing at all, so I am going to try and be a lot more aware of it and share any information I find out with you all. I am going to be doing a couple of 'Cruelty Free Make-Up Tutorials' over on my YouTube channel in the near future, so I hope that is something you all enjoy.

  1. i've recently gone cruelty free, its easier than i thought however i can't afford to replace all my non cruelty free products. i've decided that when i run out of a non cruelty free product that i'll replace it with a cruelty free product! i don't agree with animal testing either! x

    1. It would be difficult to go completely cruelty free, you're right! But there is no harm in trying and just choosing cruelty free options instead and see how you get on! xx

  4. Hi Emily!! sorry to inform you that a lot of the beauty brands that you mention as cruelty free are not really cruelty free. Some of them have parent brand such as Loreal like Urban decay and the body shop. Supporting this companies is actually supporting testing on Animals. I know is hard but hopefully in the future you make either a video or a blog post with real cruelty free brands something like 100%pure, Zao beauty, E.L.F., etc xxx
